The LIFE programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment. The general objective of LIFE is to contribute
to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental policy and legislation by co-financing pilot or
demonstration projects with European added value.
LIFE began in 1992 and to date there have been three complete phases of the programme (LIFE I: 1992-1995, LIFE II:
1996-1999 and LIFE III: 2000-2006). During this period, LIFE has co-financed some 3104 projects across the EU,
contributing approximately 2.2 billion to the protection of the environment.

Link to others Life+ projects

The project partners started networking activities trying to establish contacts with other LIFE+ projects with any connection to the project LIGHT-PET:
- Life EWWR+ - European Week for Waste Reduction
- MuSAE - Municipalities' subsidiarity for actions on energy
- CRESIM - Energy-efficient CFRP remanufacture from regenerated carbon fibres, using fast demoulding high pressure spray injection
- Life PREFER - PRoduct Environmental Footprint Enhanced by Regions
- LIFE BiMoP - Bio-inspired thermo/UV curable monomers and polymers
- Life Plastic Killer - Innovative plastic pollutants removal for efficient recycled wood panels production

The most promising contacts were with the CRESIM project, and the project partners visited on January 21st, 2014 Cannon Afros. The meeting created very profitable exchanges and Cannon Afros was involved in the workshop on Energy Management organized in the frame of the LIGHT-PET project on April 2014, 9th.
